Bette Jane (nee Erickson) Thompson, 79, of Viroqua, WI passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2026.
Bette spent many years working in retail service as an optician assistant, where she met and eventually married the love of her life, Kerry "Toad" Thompson. She was known for her warm spirit, love of family and the enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures.
Bette especially cherished time spent with her granddaughter and great-grandsons. She loved cheering on the Green Bay Packers, traveling, relaxing at the beach or pool, camping and attending the Hodag Country Music Festival. Friends and family could also often find her happily riding her lawn mower cutting grass while enjoying the outdoors and the music she loved so much.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Kerry Thompson; her children Dawne (Jesse) Owens and Daniel (Amy) Lemke; her granddaughter, Austin (Mitch) Nickodem; her beloved great grandsons, Sylas and Ryder. She also survived by her sister, Carol Abrahamson, and her brothers Ted Johnson, Bob Erickson, Tory Erickson, and Leif Erickson; and sisters-in-law Cheryl (Kirk Gillman) Starr, Kathy Tryggestad, Siri (Donny) Halverson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, and lifelong friends Vickie and Bonnie.
She was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Erickson, her mother, Evelyn Johnson; and her mother-and father-in-law, Doris and Orland Thompson; brother- in- law Terry Tryggestad, and beloved lifelong friends Adrianne, Jeanie, Loie and Karen.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Lori and the entire team at St Croix Hospice for the compassionate care they provided Bette, as well as to the Roth Family Cremation Center for their services and support.
