Carole Mills Obituary

Carole J. Mills Carole Jean Mills was born on June 14th, 1961 in Madison, Wisconsin to Gene and Jonette Mills. At the age of one, the family moved to her mom’s family homestead in Endeavor, WI.

She attended the elementary school house on the hill in Endeavor. It was the best place to play tetherball and slide down the hill in the winter. Coming from a family of six kids, there was always someone to play with (or fight with…), depending on the day.

Just after turning 18, she moved to Madison where she lived for 23 years. After the death of her father, she moved into his home in Endeavor, all for the love of his dog, Shadow.

After being diagnosed with end-stage renal disease, she moved to Viroqua to live with her sister and best friend, Margo. Dialysis kept her alive and traveling for eight years and even as the disease progressed, when she did not feel well, she never complained and always had a beautiful smile on her face.

Carole wanted to die at home and her wishes were met as her last day was with her sister in their home. Carole was proceeded in death by her mother Jonette Mills, her father Gene Mills, a sister Gail Mills, and a brother Gary Mills.

She is survived by brothers Mark Mills, Portage, WI, Dave (Peri) Mills, Elysian, MN, her sister Margo Mills, Viroqua, WI, and sister-in-law Darlene Mills, Briggsville, WI. Carole loved and was very proud of all of her nieces and nephew, including Megan (Daniel) Kjolsing, Mankato, MN, Morgan Mills (Kyle Saboe) Spencer, IA, Katherine Mills, Eau Claire, WI. and Dan (Casey) Mills, DeForest, WI. Carole enjoyed life with her special friends; “Kinderbuddy” Joyce Weiss, Sister from another Mister - Tammy Cummings, sister’s friend/ now hers - Linda Krueger, and former employer turned life-long friend - Dr. (Janey) McKenna, Inlet Beach, FL., and our life-long family friend Scharron Lake, South Pittsburg, TN.

Carole loved spending her time in many ways, including being with family, watching The Brewers and The Green Bay Packers, cuddling her animals, and watching the game show network. Some of her favorite travel destinations were Maine, Door County, Seaside, FL and Disney World. She was also infamously known for cooking Swedish meatballs and baking sugar cookies for Christmas.

Our family is extending special thanks to the Gunderson Dialysis staff in Viroqua including, Dr. Zaky, Dr. B., Janelle, Sarah, Tami, Ro, Leah, Trisha, Tom and Char. We also want to express our gratitude to Jeff and Chris at Roth Family Cremation Center and Funeral Services for their support.

Always remember….. She Lived, She Laughed, She Loved!! Carole, we will carry you with us forever our sweet sister, aunt and friend.
