Charles "Whiskers" M. Harris of Cazenovia passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the age of 79.
He was the devoted husband of Mildred (Mill Jones) Harris for 59 years. Charles was the beloved father of Mark (Shirley Steines) Harris, Georgene (Michael) Hondel, Dan Harris, Wendy Dunse, Eric (Cheryl) Harris, and Craig Harris.
He was the cherished grandfather of Jessie (Ben) Johnson, Joshua (Hannah Heiking) Hondel, Nichole Hondel-Holston (Jimmy), Cody (Lindsay) Hondel, Lacey (Josh) Kenney, Travis (Becca) Birdsill, Aaron (Beth Rushing) Muesch, and Parker Harris. He was also a treasured great-grandfather to Dameon, Davyn, Brynlee, Alex, Ella, Ryder, Draven, Connor, Khloe, Jaxton, Layton, Kennedy, Hartley, Lexee, Zoee, Sylvee, Trinity, Daxton, and Emberlynn.
Charles is further survived by his siblings, John (Jodie) Harris, June (Rick) Grob, Linda Harris, and Kevin Harris. He was a dear brother-in-law to Jo (Grant) Clement and MaryAnn Jones, and a close family friend of Gary Birdsill. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and acquaintances.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Ethel Harris; his parents-in-law, Mary and Leon Jones; brothers-in-law, John Jones and Ron Brill; sisters-in-law, Verna Zwaga and Leigh Brill; and his grandson, Brandon Harris.
Charles spent over 30 years of his working career driving dump truck for Scott Construction Co. in Lake Delton. In his early years, Charles enjoyed traveling across the country on his Honda Goldwing with Mill and friends. As time went on, he found joy in traveling, driving trucks, fishing, and spending quality time with family and friends.
We would like to thank the medical staff at Meriter Hospital, and the medical staff at St. Croix Hospice for making Charles' last days peaceful. We would also like to thank the Roth Family Cremation Center for their kindness in caring for Charles.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Charles' honor on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Reedsburg VFW Post 1916, 200 Veterans Drive, Reedsburg, WI 53959. Please join the family to share memories and a light lunch.
