Cynthia Bakkestuen Obituary

Cynthia R. Bakkestuen passed away peacefully on August 7th, 2024 in Viroqua WI. She was born December 25th, 1956, in Viroqua WI to Martin and Lillian Willger. Her family moved to Janesville where she spent some of her childhood and attended Parker High School. She returned to Viroqua, WI where married Randy L. Bakkestuen on March 11th, 1978. They had 3 boys: Randy (Lil), Jeremy, and Jonathan.

She worked as a CNA for many years then transferred over to Waltz Crafts in La Crosse, WI. There she spent 10 yrs. Building lifelong friendships with so many she would call her dearest friends. After Waltz Crafts she returned to work as a CNA. Where she found that the act of service, was where she was needed.

Cindy loved fishing. Just give her somewhere to go and she’d be there with her pole, a comfy chair and beer. That was her perfect day. A worm on a hook with good company. Whether it was dropping a bobber in the water or enjoying a good game of Cribbage, Dirty Clubs, or Euchre. She was happiest surrounded by family and friends. Cindy had so much love in her. Her open-door policy for the neighborhood kids meant she always had an extra seat at the dinner table for anyone who wanted it and an extra minute to chit chat for anyone who needed it. She was called Mom, not only by her sons but also their friends as well. By others, Mamma Cindy, even as adults. Cindy often checked on anyone who might have sat at her table or ran through her house at some point. She always had a moment to sit down and ask how you are doing.

She is survived by her husband Randy Bakkestuen; her sons, Randy (Nancy) Bakkestuen and Jeremy (Breanna) Bakkestuen; Stacey Cygan; grandchildren: Selena (Sean) Vue, Pai Vue, Aiyana Zimmer, Kayda Bakkestuen, Ava Bakkestuen, Gabriel Bakkestuen, Violet Bakkestuen; great grandson Noah Lor;  brothers, Mark (Judy) Willger and Larry (Judy) Willger; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin Willger and Lillian Willger; mother-in-law, Doris (Howard) Volden; sister Shelly (Shell Bell) Miller; son Jonathan A. Bakkestuen; grandson Ryan L. Vue.; brothers-in-law: Arvid Bakkestuen, Kenny Bakkestuen, and Jon Bakkestuen; and sister- in- law Elaine Odemoe.
