Darla Lynn Kelbel, age 66, passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side on Saturday, March 4th, 2023, in Viroqua, WI. She was born on October 13th, 1956, to Albert and Elaine Bayer. She married her husband, Randy Kelbel, on August 7th, 1976, in Richland Center, WI.
Darla, alongside her husband, Randy, raised their children on their dairy farm in Crawford and Vernon County. After farming, Darla, went on to work at Organic Valley and Nelson Muffler for the past 20 years where she made lifelong friends. She loved to spend her time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She also loved to go camping, cooking, feed the birds, and work in her flower gardens.
She is survived by her husband, Randy Kelbel; their 3 children Eugene (Kristi) Kelbel, Stacy (Mark) Lombard, Bruce Kelbel; 6 grandchildren: Miaya Campbell, Gavin Campbell, Devin Kelbel, Treyton Schmidt, Lexus Kelbel, and Elaina Lombard; 11 brothers and sisters: Diane Wilson, Debbie Hawkey, Donnie (Joan) Bayer, David Bayer, Doreen Bayer, Leonard (Angie) Thompson, Roland (Nicci Krenzke) Thompson, LeRoy (Debbie) Thompson, Christine (Chris) Leer, Angie (Earl) Wall, and Jackie (Joe Simonson) Nelson; 4 brother and sisters-in-laws: Bonnie (Keith) Wilson, Alice (Mark) Roehl, Roger (Carla) Kelbel, Irene Hiner; mother-in-law Phyllis Kelbel; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved black lab, Remmy.
She was preceded in death by her mother Elaine Thompson; father Albert Bayer; stepfather Roger Thompson; father-in-law Clarence Kelbel; brother-in-law Jim Wilson; and nephew Cole Leer.
Thank you to the numerous nurses and doctors in Rochester, LaCrosse, and Viroqua, the St. Croix hospice and a special thank you to Nicci Krenzke.
The family will be holding a memorial service on Saturday, March 11th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Redemption Chapel (S3606 Duncan Ln, Viroqua, WI 54665) with Pastor Shick officiating . A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
The Roth Family Cremation Center and Funeral Services is assisting the family.
