David E. Campton, 56, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023, after a 5-month battle with cancer. Dave’s motto was “Life is like a game of cards, you have to play the cards you're dealt.”
David was born on June 2, 1967, in Viroqua to Rose and Hallie Campton Jr. He married Mavis on February 12, 1999, and they lived in Westby, later moving to Viroqua. David excelled at every job he ever had until he started his own Barn Board Business, which he operated for 17 years. He was best known for his honesty and fairness.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years and 9 months; mother, Rose; children: Kimberly (Shawn) Kozelka, Emily (Eric) Jacobson, David (DJ) Campton Jr., and Timothy Peterson; grandchildren: Katelyn, Grant, Ava, Elthea, and Otto; brothers: Steven, Daniel, Brandon (Elizabeth) and Chris; sister Michelle (Ryan); nephews: Keagen, Braxtyn, Phoenyx, and Clifford (CJ); nieces: Alexis, Cheyenne, Ayla, Elaina, Dakota, Kobi, Charli, Kamille (Jeff), Kelli, Stacey (Chris), Shannon, and Lisa; great nephews, Maddyx and Kyle; great nieces: Amanda, Wynn, Kahlia, and Isla; great great-nephew Landen; mother-in-law Mae Jacobson; sisters-in- law, Tami Jacobson and Maren Campton; brother-in-law Buster Swiggum; beloved pets: Bear, Angel, and Buster.
David was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Bernard and Rita Clark, Hallie Sr. and Dolly Campton; brothers, Robert “Bobby” and Ronald “Ronnie”; father-in-law Kenneth Jacobson; sisters-in-law, Kay Swiggum and Beverly Miller; nephew Todd Miller; pets: Mesa, Chubby, and Rosa.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Viroqua Eagles Club on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 12-3:00 p.m. David would love it if you would wear camo, his favorite color, if you can.
