David "Dave" Reinart

David Allen "Dave" Reinart, age 72, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, May 14, at his home, surrounded by family after a battle with cancer.

Dave was born on April 27, 1954, in Tomah, Wisconsin, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Peth) Reinart. He grew up in Tomah and graduated from Tomah High School in 1972. Tomah remained home throughout his life, and it was where he built his family, his friendships, his work, and the stories people will remember for years to come.

Dave was a hard worker his entire life. Over the years, he worked in many roles, including drywall, sales, and business ownership. No matter the job, he took pride in his work and kept going as long as he was able. Even in his final years, he continued working in drywall until his health no longer allowed it.

Dave loved being outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, and spending time outside. He also enjoyed cooking, telling stories, talking politics, and spending time with family and friends. He was social by nature and could often be found visiting with friends at Kelsey's Class Act Bar or Smoke's Elbow Room in Tomah. Those places were more than stops along the way. They were part of his community, where he shared stories, opinions, laughs, and time with people he cared about.

Dave was stubborn in the best way. He had strong opinions, a strong work ethic, and a strong love for the people close to him. He loved his family deeply and was proud of his children and grandchildren. He had a way of keeping family stories alive, often through long conversations, memories, and the kind of storytelling that made people feel connected to where they came from.

On June 10, 2023, Dave married Carol, and they spent his final years together at home in Tomah. Carol was by his side during his illness. His illness progressed faster than his family had hoped, but he remained at home, surrounded by the people who loved him.

Dave's life will be remembered in the stories he told, the work he did, the family he loved, and the friendships he built across a lifetime in Tomah.

Dave is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Leslie (Dean) Timmons, Travis (Dana) Reinart, Adam (Emily) Reinart, and Nikki (Ryan) Dorn; his grandchildren, Brittany, Chloe, Blair, Carson, Teddy, Ellie, and Lucy; his stepchildren, Jerrad Crouch, Carrie (Doug) Benson, Jamie (Jamie Knutson) Crouch, and Naomie Crouch; and his mother-in-law, Inez Raabe.

He is also survived by his siblings, Diane (Glen) Pergande, Linda (Bob) Martens, and Connie Ripp; and his brothers-in-law, Keith Betcher, Randy Luther, and Randy Ripp.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Reinart; his siblings, Jolene Betcher, Patty Luther, and Steve Reinart; and his stepson, Chester Crouch II.

There will be no traditional, quiet farewell. Instead, Dave's family will host a Celebration of Life, a big party to honor a life well-lived. The gathering will be held on Saturday, June 20, starting at 2:00 p.m., at Kelsey's Class Act Bar in Tomah. Family and friends are invited to come together in the way Dave would have wanted: sharing stories, laughter, memories, and good company.
