Dick E. Long

On Thursday, January 19th, 2023, Dick E. Long of Viroqua passed away unexpectedly in his home. He was eighty years old. Dick was born in Illinois to Glida (Sokolik) and Victor Long. He grew up in the La Farge/Ontario area and attended Upper Weister School in Dell and Johnniecake School in Ontario. 

 Dick was a very outgoing person with a charismatic personality, he could walk into a room full of strangers and leave everyone with a smile on their face. He would often make people laugh with his outrageous sense of humor. He was a self-professed "Dick of all trades" having worked a wide variety of jobs and acquiring many different skills over the years. His favorite pastime was being a mechanic, he loved working on vehicles. He also enjoyed going to tractor pulls, hunting, fishing, and playing on the pool league.   

 Dick is survived by his four children: Pam Long (Vern) Crouch, Corey Long, Jeremy Long, and Brittany Long; his wife Patricia Long; his stepchildren: RJ (Amber) Turner, Mary Jane Spaulding, Patrick Parkinson, Randy Seekamp, and David Seekamp; his brothers, Victor (Carol) Long and Robert Long; and many nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his father Victor and his mother Glida; stepfather Robert Sokolik; and siblings: Ronald, Roger, Ann, Rita, and Janet.

 A celebration of Dick’s life will be held from 11am-3pm on Saturday March 11th, 2023, at Kickapoo Haven located at 106 W. Main St in La Farge WI.  

The Roth Family Cremation Center is assisting the family.
