Dolores Marie Piper (De) passed away on September 23, 2025, at Creamery Creek Senior Living in Viroqua, Wisconsin. She was 99 years and 26 days old. Dolores grew up in Dearborn, Michigan and graduated from Fordson High School in 1944. There she met her husband George Piper (Doc), and they were married March 18, 1946. De and Doc moved to Viroqua in 1951. She ran Doc’s veterinary practice until 1975.
Dolores had three children: Dane, Lynn (Fortun) and Gregg. Her grandchildren were Dana, Ross, George and Elizabeth Piper, Michele (Fortun) Kvikstad and Trudy Fortun. Great grandchildren were Spencer, Gavin and Parker Kvikstad and Grace Lohr.
Her interests included sewing, ice skating, golfing, collecting and politics. She was active in the PTA, taught ice skating and volunteered at the Door of Hope. Dolores supervised the renovation of the Viroqua Public Library in 1974. After 1975 she traveled with Doc until his retirement as a USDA inspector.
De was a loving mother and wife who touched many people’s lives in Viroqua. She was passionate about many things in her life and carried an energy that was remarkable. De’s blue eyes were as bold as her wardrobe, which always had accents that sparkled as brightly as her spirit. She dressed with flair and spoke with conviction. De had a way of making sure you knew where she stood, but she also made sure you felt loved while she did it.
A celebration of life will be held at a future time.
