Donna Rae Polsean, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at her home in Viroqua surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on March 31, 1936, to Donald B. and Burnita Herring. She married Marc T. Polsean on November 14, 1964, at First Presbyterian Church in Dubuque, IA.
Donna and Marc began their married life in Muscatine, IA and later relocated to Genoa for Marc’s employment. They raised their children on North Ridge Road for thirty-five years before moving to their present home in Viroqua in 2002.
Donna’s interests included: sewing, embroidery, crocheting, and knitting. She found great joy in traveling on the Gold Wing motorcycle with Marc. They took their motorhome to Florida for multiple years and loved attending events for grandchildren. For several years she and her best friend Jackie Grace “clowned around.” Donna and Jackie took classes to become professional clowns; entertaining at school events, nursing homes, and birthday parties. Donna was known for her gift to gab and tall tales. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Marc; five children: Deb (Bob) Jacobson, Marc (Gretchen) Hinkel, Linda (Brian) Volden; daughter-in-law, Carol Quella (wife of Michael), Michelle (Corey) Primmer, Sharon (Larry) Hooverson; in-laws Wayne and Mary Polsean, Karen and Ken Morrow; 16 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren with two on the way; and special friend Ray Seidel.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Burnita (Stuffelbeam) Herring; father and mother-in-law, Tilden and Bernice Polsean; son, Michael Hinkel; brother-in-law, Byron Polsean; grandson, Zachary Hooverson; great-grandsons, Matthew Keenlance, and Logan Connelly; and special friend Jackie Grace.
