Gary Alexander, 83, of Viola passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 23, 1938, to Dennis and Audrey (Grim) Alexander on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Mary Glass on May 26, 1957, at the Church of Christ in Readstown. They were blessed with 4 children: Rhoda, Michael, Debra, and Steven. Gary worked at General Motors for 6 years in Janesville and later he worked on Road Construction for about 20 years. Gary also farmed for several years when his children needed him at home.
Gary is survived by his wife, Mary of 64 years; 2 daughters, Rhoda (Kelly) Alexander and Debra (Mike) Alexander; 2 sons, Mike (Angie) Alexander and Steven (Thereasa) Alexander; 22 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren with one on the way; 2 sisters, Donna (John) Tainter and Mary (Stuart) Larson; 3 sisters-in-law, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gary was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents; in-laws, Morgan and Nina Glass; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth (Merlen) Chroninger and Gloria (Ed) Krueger.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at the Church of Christ in Readstown at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Masks are appreciated. There will be a private family burial.
