Gerald E. Gratz

Gerald E. Gratz Sr, 92, of Soldiers Grove passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse, WI. 

He was born on March 28, 1932, to Gladys and Alvin Gratz.  He married Viola Bunts on September 15, 1955, at United Methodist Church in Bloomington, WI.

Gerald was involved with the VFW Post #68 of Prairie du Chien.  He loved to go fishing, hunting, and camping with his family.

He is survived by one brother Jim Gratz; sons Timothy (Theresa) Gratz of Boscobel, WI, Randy (Terry) Gratz of Pittsville, WI, and Gerald Jr (Charmin) Gratz of Prairie du Chien, WI; one daughter Kimberly (Conrad) Hammill of Prairie du Chien, WI; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Gladys Gratz; one brother David Gratz; wife Viola Gratz; three sons: Danny, Steven, and Allen Gratz.  

Family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Soldiers Grove Health Services as well as nurses and doctors at Gundersen Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Bible Baptist Church, 1110 North Marquette Road, Prairie du Chien, WI 53821.

Family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Bible Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Andy Doll officiating.  A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Burial will take place at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Mount Hope with Military Honors.  A luncheon to follow at Bridgeport Fire Department, 63176 Vineyard Road, Prairie du Chien, WI 53821.
