Gordon B. Misner, 64, died at home under hospice care on November 19, 2025. Born in Berwick, N.S. he was adopted and raised by David and Eleanor Misner with his sister Julie and brother Donnie. Most of his childhood was spent in Kentville, N.S.
He attended Acadia University where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in history and political science. He then worked for a short period of time as a youth worker for the provincial government facility in Waterville, N.S.
He married his wife Deborah Prior in 1990. In 1995 they immigrated to Viroqua, WI for Deb to continue her medical practice. In 2003 they became American citizens. Gordon worked as a real estate assessor and appraiser. He then took early retirement to manage their property and take care of their dogs.
Always a football fan, he became an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He was thrilled to attend Super Bowl XLV which the Packers won. The 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay was also a highlight for his fandom. His favorite pastime was sitting down to read the newspaper – which became much harder as the digital age progressed.
In the last couple of years, he was able to connect with several half-siblings through genetic testing. Unfortunately, he was never able to meet them in person.
Gordon is survived by his wife Deborah L. Prior; father David Leroy Misner; sister Julie (Alan) Sewards; brother Donald (Jennifer Parish-Misner) Misner; brother-in-law Howard W. (Geri) Prior; sister-in-law Karen L. (Keith) Kendall; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Eleanor Louise (Swindell) Misner.
Family would like to thank Moments Hospice, nurse Benji and aide Amber. Also, many thanks to dear friends, neighbors and Deb’s coworkers for their love and support. A special thanks to Kari and Barb Solverson, Tamsen Morgan and Trish Swasko.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to any local Humane Society.
Gordon’s ashes will be interned at Lakeville Cemetery in Nova Scotia in the near future.
Roth Family Cremation Center and Funeral Services is assisting the family.
