Herbert William Copus Jr., age 61, passed away at home surrounded by family on March 17, 2026.
He was born on November 15, 1964 to Herbert & Shirley Copus at Fort Lee, Virginia. He was a proud veteran who served in the military from 1981-1985 earning the sharpshooter badge for the M-16 and rank of Specialist (E-4). He was a jack-of-all-trades who enjoyed fixing everything and anything and often said “he could sell ice to an Eskimo”. Herbie loved and was loved by many.
He is survived by his; loving wife Angela Copus; his daughters Kelssi (Aaron) Zeigler, Chloe Stanley (fiancé Austin Wilcox), and his sons Wyatt (Jenna) Copus and Austen Stanley; grandsons Sawyer Copus and Max Ziegler and granddaughter Berkley Wilcox; siblings: Sherrie (Alan) Sime, Kathleen (John) McCullick, Michael (Sherry Bereziuk) Copus, Timothy (Sasha Straka) Copus; and brother-in-law Richard Kirchhoff; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Copus Sr. and Shirley Morelock; sister Annette Kirchhoff; brother-in-law Tilman Showen, and Larry Draper.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to; St. Croix Hospice, most especially to Kate DePoole for her loving and exceptional service and care; Lindsay of social services; Crystal Knoll and CJ, of the Vernon County VA Office; and the Roth Family Cremation Center.
Family will be holding a Celebration of Life for Herbie on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at the Readstown and Town of Kickapoo Advancement Building, 208 W Center St, Readstown, WI starting at 1pm.
Roth Family Cremation Center and Funeral Services is assisting the family.
