Hope Sisbach Obituary

Hope Marie Sisbach, age 93 passed away peacefully on February 26, 2024, at Vernon Acres in Viroqua. Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother with a cheerful spirit and happy smile. A friend said she won the Life Lottery - loving friends and family, coupled with many healthy years to enjoy it.

She was born in Viroqua on September 27, 1930, to William and Marie Benson, graduated from Viroqua High School in 1949 and married Leonard Sisbach at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua on January 26, 1957. Are we sensing a Viroqua theme here?

While in high school, Hope began a 40 plus year career as a switchboard operator for the Viroqua Telephone Company, often walking the 4.6 miles round trip from their home in Maple Dale. She enjoyed chatting with customers as she made their connections and was fascinated by how telephone technology changed over time.

Hope was an avid reader, particularly of mysteries. Over time, she became quite good at developing her own story lines! She loved to say “Inquiring minds want to know …” She also loved theater, musicals, and a wide variety of music, especially performances involving youth and community talent.

Hope is survived by her sisters, Cindy Lindvig and Lila (Clair) Morrison; sisters-in-law, Darlene and Phyllis Sisbach; cousin Shirley (Mike) Riley; cousins-in-law, Eileen Getter and Esther Cook; daughter Susan (Dennis) Olson; grandsons, Eric (Jerri) and their son Brent (Susi), Dan (Stacy) Olson and their children Adalyn and Jackson; son Steve (Sarah); grandchildren, Greg (Andrea) Stutz and their children Keagan and Heuer, Kristin (Rob Stapel) Stutz and their children Lindsey (Jonathan), Eleanor, and Tilley McCargo: and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Leonard; son Scott Sisbach; grandson Michael Olson; brothers-in-law: Jim Lindvig, Gordon, and Orland Sisbach: and nephew Clair Morrison, Jr. (Butch).

The family extends special thanks to the caregivers at Vernon Acres, Vernon Manor, Vernon Memorial Hospital and St. Croix Hospice for the respect, dignity, and quality of care they provided to Hope and her family during the past few months. Viroqua is blessed to have such dedicated, caring, and professional people serving our community.

Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua on March 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Christopher Rajkumar Raman officiating. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.  Burial will take place in the Viroqua Cemetery.
