James Henry Dehne of Avalanche, Wisconsin, died December 16, 2025, at age 56. James passed away peacefully in his home that he loved from natural causes.
He was born July 13, 1969, in Bismarck, North Dakota to Joy Vogel and Gordon Dehne. He grew up in North Dakota and graduated from Flasher High School in 1987.
He joined the National Guard at age 17, and later served in the Army which he retired from in 2022. Through the Army, he had the opportunity to be stationed in Guam for over two years. Here he made good friends and developed a passion for deep sea diving.
James was a lover of his dog, Bayju and the outdoors. He spent his pastime camping and kayaking. He and his best friend, Tom Buros, took frequent trips to Florida to explore all the adventures found throughout Orlando.
He had just built his retirement home that he was so proud of on Salem Ridge.
He is survived by his mother, Joy Vogel; his stepdaughters, Logan Everson and Raina (Hunter) Groom; siblings Gordon Dehne, Erica (Kevin) Peck, Christina Pfahl, Allen (Cindy) Vogel, Sherry (Allen) Neas, Janine (Neil) Wheeler, Billee (Sammy) Gondola, Karen (Jeff) Goede; and multiple nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Dehne; stepfather, Bill Vogel; brother Kevin Dehne; and stepbrother, Daryl Vogel.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the La Farge Free Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Phillips officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial will take place in the Brush Hollow Cemetery with military honors.
