Janice M. Halverson

Janice Marie Halverson, 74, passed away December 29, 2023, at Mayo Health System in La Crosse, WI.

She was born on July 4, 1949, in Ft. Knox, KY to Buford Lowell and Betty Smith. She married Terry Halverson on July 1, 1972, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Soldiers Grove, WI.

Janice graduated from Weston High School in 1967 and went on to serve in the military. Janice loved to spend time with her family. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, baking, horseback riding, and taking care of her cats.

She is survived by her husband, Terry; daughters, Tammy (David Walleck) Courter and Laura (Wendell Showen) Halverson; sons, Travis (Sheree) Halverson and Chris Halverson; one grandson, Jonathan (Elyssa) Cook; two great grandchildren, Camden and Cally Cook; one brother, Robert L. Smith; two sisters-in-law, Linda Murphy and Mary Halverson; four step grandchildren: Nicole, Lauren, Bailey, and Brooke; eight step great-grandchildren:  Lylah, Bryson, Ava, Ashton, Malinda, Shania, Storm, and Shana; her cats: Charlotte, Mo, Simon, and Chance; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Betty; an infant brother, David; an infant granddaughter, Lisa Alydia-Cook; sister-in-law, Marsha Smith; brother-in-law, Ronny Halverson; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Jan Halverson.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Mayo Health System 7th medical staff.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Halver's Town Tap in Gays Mills. 

The Roth Family Cremation Center is assisting the family.
