Jesse S. Finney

Jesse Scott Finney, age 49, passed away on Friday November 25th, 2022, at Gundersen Health System, LaCrosse. 

Jesse was born in La Crosse, WI on January 13th, 1973 to Ambrose Finney and Mary Ellen Schaitel (Tscheu).

He married Angela Dockendorf (Pedretti) on February 10th, 2004. Of that union they had 2 children. Daniel and Michael Finney. 

Jesse grew up on his grandparents farm in Genoa and later with his Aunt and Uncle Judy and Tilly Haugen in Coon Valley. He loved being a Westby Norsemen and excelled at all sports. He was a standout in wrestling and football. Jesse was a state wrestling qualifier and placed second at the state tournament his senior year; a defeat that he would jokingly bring up in conversation many times over the years.  After graduation, he served in the Army and was stationed in South Korea for much of his enlistment. Jesse loved to cook for his family and they fondly remember how he would make everyone else make their plates and ask how everything was and then follow it up with making a plate himself and describing each bite in detail to them. He also loved all things Packers, Brewers, and Badgers.

He loved his boys more than anything and had a special relationship with both of them. They shared a love for racing, sports, and construction. He taught his boys how to roof a house and build a deck before they were five and they continued to work on construction projects together throughout the years. They could go to their Dad with anything and he was always just a phone call away for advice.

Jesse will be remembered for his smile, his wit, his charm and his love for each day that he was given. He found humor in everything and loved everyone. 

He was preceded in death by his brother Michael; his grandparents, Agnes and Vincent Finney; step-mother Debbie Finney; Aunt Judy (Finney) Haugen; and Uncle Tillman Haugen. 

He is survived by his sons, Daniel (Jenna) Finney and Michael (Paige) Finney;  father, Ambrose Finney; mother Mary Tscheu; twin brother Jerry (Andrea) Finney and their children Quinn, Levi and Lucas; sister Amber Finney and her daughter Julia; sister Maggie (Joe) Berry and their children Harper and Eva; grandsons; Bennett, Reid, and Maverick. He loved them so very much and looked forward to watching them grow up. He will also be missed by many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2pm-5pm on Sunday, December 4th at Fox Hollow Golf Course; 3287 County Rd OA, La Crosse, WI.
