Joseph F. Biebl, 81, passed away peacefully after battling prostate cancer on Tuesday, July 13th, 2021, at home in Viroqua. He was born August 29,1939 in Milwaukee to Evelyn and Joseph Biebl and spent the first twenty years of his life there. He remembered fondly, the years he worked as a paper boy many times telling his children and grandchildren the advantages of keeping good records, earning money, and saving it.
Joe, a steward of nature and the outdoors was an avid gardener and enjoyed picking weeds, being outdoors among plants, trees, shrubs, and conversing with the birds. Special joys were playing cards with family and friends, doing Sudoku, puzzles, asking questions and watching or listening to Public Broadcasting. He loved working for the USDA-Soil Conservation Service and helped plan and construct many of the Vernon County Flood Control dams. He also designed many farm ponds, small dams, and manure pits for the farmers of Vernon, Monroe, and LaCrosse Counties over his 37 years with the service. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his children, Colleen (Doug) Olson; Jeanne (Dave) Renick; Russell (Tara) Biebl; Susan (Mike) Weyh and Sandra (Mike) Kuzulka. Roger Biebl , his other son preceded him in death in 2016. He had 11 grandchildren: Ashley (Olson) McCandless, Eric Olson, Bryce Olson, Arianna Olson, Nolan Renick, Joey Biebl, Jarron Biebl, Riley Weyh, Cole Weyh, Katie Kuzulka and Emmie Kuzulka; 5 great grandchildren: Farren, Eliza, Orion McCandless, Jade Olson and Skye Crawford; wonderful brother and sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and countless special friends.
The doctors at Gundersen Medical Hospital and Vernon Memorial were excellent, as well as Gundersen Hospice Care. They treated him with care, patience, and sensitivity.
A funeral service is planned for Friday, August 27th. There will be a visitation from 11am to 1 pm; Mass at 1pm with lunch to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 400 Congress Ave, Viroqua, Wisconsin, 54665.
