Larry Oliver Obituary

Larry Laverne Oliver, 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Coon Valley, surrounded by family, on Sunday, February 11, 2024.  He was born on April 27, 1943 to Orris and Beulah Oliver.  He married Carol Mae Oliver on February 23, 1963.

Larry was born to Orris and Beulah Oliver on a farm in Purdy, WI.  He was raised to work hard and support his family.  In his younger years he enjoyed going to horse shows and taking Sunday drives with his wife Carol and their children.  Larry worked as a laborer and was a member of Local 140, for over 50 years.  He enjoyed listening to Country Western music, watching Old Westerns, and going to car shows during his retirement.

Larry is survived by his wife Carol of 60 years; four sons: Ricky of Coon Valley, Arlen of Coon Valley, Lavon (Deb) of Westby, and Burton of Westby; grandchildren: Nicole (Travis) Ezelle of Westby, Cody Oliver of Coon Valley, Holly (Scott) Starr of Viroqua, and Jamie Oliver of Westby; great-grandchildren, Hunter Yanske of Westby and Axel Starr of Viroqua; brothers: Maynard (Hoa) Oliver of Texas, David (Anita) Oliver of Texas, Darrel (Nancy) Oliver of Westby; sisters: Mary (Lee) Tyler of Texas, Debbie Locke of Coon Valley, Bonnie (Chuck) Groth of La Crosse, Eloda (Tony) Celis of Texas, Cheryl Oliver of La Crosse, and Gloria Ross of Texas; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews-too many to mention; and special friends: Bill and Carol Kast, Mike and Kathy Hall, Danny and Nancy Deckert, and Mike Saley.   

He was preceded in death by his father Orris and stepmother Gladys; mother Beulah and stepfathers, Arnie Gilbertson and Wes Nordstrom; infant brother Roy; brothers, Arden and Ronnie; two daughters-in-law, Pam Oliver and Tammy Oliver; brothers-in-law: Max Locke, Blaine Oliver, and Robert Redig; and two nephews, Frankie and Clayton Oliver. 

A special thank you to Gundersen Hospice team as well as friends and family that supported Larry and his family during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.

Celebration of Life Luncheon for Larry Oliver and his daughter-in-law Tammy Oliver will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 11 a.m. -2 p.m. at the Coon Valley Park - Shelter #3, Coon Valley, WI 54623.

Roth Family Cremation Center and Funeral Services is assisting the family.
