LeRoy E. Wang

LeRoy E. Wang, age 77, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at home in rural Viroqua. He was born on March 5, 1946 to Esther (Skoglund) and LaVerne Wang.  Le Roy enjoyed growing up in the country with grandparents Hilma and Lindahl Skoglund.

After high school graduation from Westby, he began to serve his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war where he received a purple heart.  He returned to Wisconsin and later married Diane Hanson.  He and Diane raised two sons (Dustin and Chad), as well as plenty of tobacco, in the rural Viroqua area.

LeRoy worked road construction through Kramer’s and later drove truck for Indianhead until retirement.  He enjoyed auctions and working on various vehicles in his shop.  He was always up for a few beverages with family and friends where his contagious laugh would often light up the room.  He will be remembered by many for his quick wit and humor.

He is survived by his son Chad (Sheila) Tracy, two granddaughters –Lauren (Brian) Tracy-Stearns, and Jenna Tracy.  He is also survived by siblings Sharon (Dale) Fromm, Ellen Brekke, Linda Bowen, Corky (Steve) Severson, Greg (Cindy) Bergh, and Jon (Rheatta) Bergh as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son Dustin A. Wang, mother - Esther (Skoglund) Bergh, father -LaVerne Wang, grandparents Hilma and Lindahl Skoglund, uncles - Alfred Skoglund, Palmer Skoglund and Aunt Hazel Skoglund.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 23rd at 11:00 am in Westby Coon Prairie Cemetery with military rites by United States Army Honor Team, VFW Post # 8021, and Severson-Funk Legion Post #155.
