Leroy Reno Obituary

Leroy C. Reno, 90, of Westby passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, with his wife by his side.

Leroy was born in Rhinelander, WI, on September 28, 1933.  This is where he spent his early childhood.  Later, the family moved to Milwaukee.  He had many memories of adventures with his brother, paper routes, and taking care of his beloved siblings.

In his late teens he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. After basic training he was shipped to the Korean conflict/war and served as a wireman for Item Company.  He served his time and was given an honorable discharge.  He would later reenlist into the Marines, and later into the Army, both of which he received honorable discharges.

Leroy had a very deep love for his family and cherished the times spent with them.  He was the family historian and loved to tell the stories of the days gone by and of his family.  Nothing was short when it came to Leroy and his story. You knew everything to the smallest of details.  This treasure will be missed by all who knew him.

Leroy had a love for most music and had a beautiful singing voice.  He also played a mean accordion and harmonica in his day.  Leroy loved to dance and was happy to oblige any who asked.  He also had a love for his fellow veterans and would help anyone in need.  One of his biggest joys was traveling.  Whether it was by car, truck, SUV, or RV he loved to drive.

He met his traveling companion and sidekick, Sherry.  They were married in New Mexico, where they lived until making their home in Westby.  For over 20 years they were side by side, right until the end.

Leroy is survived by his wife Sherry; their furry buddy Jasper; daughters Lynn (Jim) and Renee (Dave); sons, Daniel (Sherry) and Josiah (Karen); stepson Richard; brother Lloyd (Ruth); sister Margaret AKA Lucky; nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren; a very special great-granddaughter Savannah; and many dear friends.

Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Fern; first wife Carol; stepson Randy; grandson Myles; brothers-in-law, Bill and Michael; father-in-law Norman; and many close friends.

A special thank you to the Gunderson Hospice team for their love and care shown to Leroy and family.  A very special thank you to Jason.  Your care and friendship made all the difference in the world.
