Lilah Bernadine Kinserdahl

Lilah Kinserdahl, age 95 of Westby, passed away peacefully at her home on June 23, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Lilah was born on June 9, 1930, to Victor and Myrtle (Holte) Mickelson on the family farm in Westby’s Old Town. She was baptized and confirmed at Westby-Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. In 1948, she graduated from Westby High School. In October of 1951, Lilah was united in marriage to Orland Kinserdahl at the Westby parsonage. They eventually established a home near the Vang Church in rural Westby. Lilah was a member of the Vang Lutheran Church, and a member of the Rachel Circle. She was also the cemetery caretaker for numerous years. In addition to being a homemaker, raising children, and helping with tobacco, she served as a poll worker for the Town of Coon. Lilah loved the outdoors, reading, and collecting recipes. 

Lilah is survived by her children Steven, Greg, and Ann (Nick) Smolen. She is also survived by her grandchildren April (Ben) Campbell, Becky (Ryan) Finley, Jessica (Todd) Hill, Paul (Emily) Kinserdahl, Ariane (Zach) Schaefer, Ashley Walsh, and Alyssa (Rob) Smolen-Falk. She is further survived by 11 great-grandchildren, as well as two nieces, a nephew, and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orland, in 1996; her parents; her siblings, Verna and Blaine; three siblings who died at birth; and a great-grandchild, Tristan Hill. 

Funeral services will be held at the Vang Lutheran Church on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Alyssa Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the Vang Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vang Lutheran Church. Lilah’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Croix Hospice, her caregivers Sissy and Deidra, and her granddaughter, Jessica, for their exceptional care.
