Linda Sue Turner, 65, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2023, at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua.
She was born on January 23, 1957, to Joel and Loretta (Olson) Volden. She married Joseph R. Turner on October 15, 1977, at Vang Lutheran Church.
Besides raising her children, Linda also enjoyed making patchwork quilts for loved ones, shooting pool on league, and participating in pool tournaments (in which she received several trophies). Linda also enjoyed packing up her family and going camping up in Hatfield, as well as taking trips to Colorado. A good poker game would keep Linda and company busy for hours and sometimes even overnights. Playing Bingo with her mom was a good time too! Truly Linda really enjoyed the times that she would get together with her sisters, and they would make “grandma’s recipe” doughnuts. She loved going for drives with her daughter and telling stories of back when… reminiscing was one of her simple pleasures. Despite being bound to a wheelchair, Linda was always there for her children, or anyone that may have needed something. She did the best she could with what she had. She loved all four of her children, as well as her nine grandchildren, and her four great-grandchildren, with the fifth great grand baby on the way (it’s a girl).
Linda is survived by a special friend: Miguel Vazquez; her children: Shawn (Kristina) Volden, Jessica Hughes, Jason Turner, and Travis (Michael) Turner; her grandkids: Brook and Dylan Hughes, Alexis Gnewikow, Hunter Volden, Franklin, Briella, Samuel, and Ember Hollands; great-grandkids: Mia Friedl, Kayden Harvey-Hughes, Lucille Hughes, Neyomee Baker, and the 5th great-grandbaby is on her way; four brothers: Randy (Lisa) Volden, Brian (Linda) Volden, Mike (Rhonda) Volden, and Kevin (Diane) Volden; four sisters: Pam (Steve) Greenwood, Carol (Mike) Fish, Lori (Scott) Elmore, and Lisa (Jary) Volden; brother-in-law, Mike (Mona) Turner and family; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Joel and Loretta Volden; her in-laws, Byron and Lucille Turner; one brother, Rick Olson, two sisters-in-law, Debbie Volden and Marcia Hagensick; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
