Lois Knutson Obituary

Lois A. Knutson, formerly of Onalaska/Viroqua, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024. She was born to Erna and Louie Neabling on June 30, 1945, in Oshkosh, WI. Lois met the love of her life and best friend, Michael (Mike) Knutson, on July 4, 1983. They knew immediately they were made for each other. They were married four months later on November 26, 1983. Michael brought two sons into the family from a previous marriage. Lois loved her stepsons as though they were her very own. They shared many years of joy and happiness.

Lois graduated from Winneconne High School in 1963. She worked for a short time in Oshkosh, then moved to Madison, WI. In Madison, she worked for the State of Wisconsin. After marrying Mike, she moved to the Camp Douglas, WI area. She continued to work for the State of Wisconsin as a civilian on the Volk Field Air National Guard Base until retiring in 2004 with 35 plus years of state service. During retirement, Lois and Mike were snowbirds, spending their winters in Pharr, TX, in the Rio Grande Valley. Over those many years, they made many dear friends and wonderful memories.

Lois is survived by her husband, Mike of Viroqua, WI; stepsons Brian (Nissa) Knutson of Cottage Grove, MN and Mark (Jennifer) Knutson of Viroqua, WI; sister, Carol Wotruba of Wisconsin Rapids; brothers, Gordon (Marge) Neabling of Wisconsin Rapids and Roland Neabling of Larsen, WI; 4 grandkids, 7 nephews and 2 nieces, 12 great-nieces and nephews, and 5 great-great-nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, two uncles, two aunts, brother-in-law Robert Wotruba, sister-in-law Karen Neabling, sister-in-law Sue Neabling, niece Stacey Wotruba and in-laws Leon and Marlene (Zitzner) Mellem.

Funeral services and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation services will be provided by Roth Family Cremation Center in Viroqua. In lieu of cards or flowers, a donation to Creamery Creek Senior Living - Viroqua or St Croix Hospice in Lois’s memory is requested.
