Margie A. Piepenhagen

Margie A. (Hanson) Piepenhagen left this Earth to join Floyd by his side on April 20, 2024.  She was born 4/28/1944 in Vernon County to Orie and Coral Hanson.  Growing up on a farm prepared her for the life she and Floyd would lead together for 61 years.

Margie married Floyd on July 28, 1962, in LaCrosse Wisconsin.  After living and working in LaCrosse for a couple of years, they began their farming career in Readstown.  In 1970 they moved to the farm on Rongstad Ridge Road and lived the rest of their years growing cows, corn, tobacco, and 2 children.

Margie was always happiest spending time with her grandchildren and was fortunate enough to know 3 of her 5 great-grandchildren.  She used to take all 5 granddaughters for an entire week every summer and loved every minute of it.  Margie had a green thumb and was an avid gardener, whether it was vegetables, flowers, or house plants.

Margie did not like to be still.  She made beautiful crochet doilies, but her specialty was pieced quilts.  All the grandchildren and great grandchildren got a pieced quilt from her when they moved to a big bed, and as wedding gifts.

Margie leaves behind her daughters, Marcy Jones of Viroqua and Shannon Harvey of Evansville; granddaughters: Elizabeth Jones of Westby, Katherine (Alex) Odegard of Viroqua, and Leah (Tyler Russell) of Asheville North Carolina, Alexandria and Emma Harvey of Charlotte, North Carolina; great grandchildren: Samuel and Cooper Odegard and 2 brothers joining the family in October, of Viroqua, and Evelyn Socia of Westby;  one sister Caroline Andren of Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, just 6 months before her;  her father and mother Orie and Coral Hanson; brother Clayton Hanson; and sisters: Shirley McGill, Kay Bolstad, and Lois Bjerkaas.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 1st at North Coon Prairie Lutheran Church in Newry.  Visitation from 9:00-11:00 with service at 11:00 and lunch following.
