Paul Monroe Clauer age 94 passed away on August 10, 2024 at Grant Regional Hospital in Lancaster.
Paul was born at home in rural Beetown Township to John Frederick Clauer and Belva (Duncan) Clauer on January 1, 1930.
Paul started school at Muscallounge and then Beetown School when the family moved. Paul finished 8th grade at Beetown and started high school at Lancaster. Paul did not enjoy school and left after the first day. Though he lacked formal education, he was a very intelligent man.
He began his work life in the employ of different farmers. One of those farm jobs would change his life as he met a pretty, young farmer’s daughter.
He married that young lady, Shirley Bishell on April 10th, 1950. Shirley farmed alongside Paul while also working off the farm. Paul also worked off the farm, at local cheese factories and later as the patrolman for Beetown Township, the job from which he eventually retired.
Together with friends they enjoyed taking trips and had a great time camping and fishing each summer at Schleicher’s Landing outside of Cassville, meeting many friends for life.
Paul is survived by his son, Dennis (Pamela) Clauer, grandchildren, Deanna (Barry) Brinkman, Donald (Samantha) Clauer, Ryan (Sabrina) McClain, Paul D Clauer, and Lindsey (Al) Duve. He is further survived by 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and sisters-in-law Margaret Clauer and Margaret Bishell and nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Kathy Clauer, his mother-in-law and father-in-law and all his siblings.
There will be a graveside service for family and friends Saturday August 17th at 10:00 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Mark Hoehne officiating.
