Paul C. Ritchie, age 70, passed away on August 24, 2023 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua, Wisconsin from complications of Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.
He was born on March 27, 1953 to Elsie and Gerald Ritchie in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. He married Jillian (Jill) Steenson on December 28, 1985 at Luther Memorial Church in Madison, Wisconsin. Their amazing daughter Evie came into their lives in 2006 and completed their family.
Paul was an extraordinarily gifted speaker who was a nationally recognized debate champion and extemporaneous speaker. He spent much of his career in telecommunications and marketing. He was an avid baseball fan. He especially loved baseball history and lore and the Milwaukee Brewers. He loved reading, particularly biographies of the U.S. presidents. He loved many musical genres, most notably blues and opera. He wrote two (unpublished) novels and many poems. He was a devoted husband and father and a loyal friend. He enjoyed comedy in all forms.
He is survived by his wife, Jillian Ritchie, his daughter Evie Ritchie, his sister Jeanne Ritchie and his brother Mark Ritchie in addition to many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Gerald Ritchie and his mother Elsie Ritchie.
The family expresses their deep gratitude to Bethel Oaks Memory Care and Vernon Memorial Hospital for their excellent care of him.
The family will be planning a celebration of life for sometime in 2024.
