Roger Mueller Obituary

Roger Mueller, 89, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, September 19, 2021. 

He was born on July 8, 1932 to Bill and Lu Ella (Tewalt) Mueller.  Roger married Janet Peterson on February 19, 1953, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua, Wisconsin.  They were married for 68 years.

Roger attended Madison Business College.  He enjoyed farming, having grown up in the city, he was a real “City to Country Boy”. While farming, Roger was called to active duty and served in the Wisconsin National Guards.  His children were the tender ages of 2,4,6, and 7 went he was called to duty. He also sold Vigortone Feed and was a Farm Trainer at WWTC.  Roger served as Genoa Town Chairman, was on the DeSoto School Board, and an active member of De Soto Lutheran Church.  Roger was an excellent trumpet player and was honored to play his trumpet for funerals and other events.  Roger stayed active to the very end, even passing his written and behind the wheel driving test, just a couple weeks prior to his passing.   

Roger is survived by his wife Janet; sons, Steven (Jeanne)and Tim (Kristal); daughter, Kathy (Gary) Elliott; brother Richard (Toni); 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, William C. Mueller and mother, Lu Ella; son Jim; and daughter-in-law Becky.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021, at De Soto Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m.  with pastor Lori Kleppe officiating.  Friends may call on the family from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.  A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 22, from 5-7 p.m. at the church.   Burial will be in the Walnut Mound Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Running-Johnson-Ray V.F.W. Post 3032,  Jacobson-Olson American Legion Post 138, and the U.S. Army Honor Team.  Masks are required.  To view a livestream of the service, go to De Soto and Freeman Lutheran Churches Facebook page.
