Rose Marie Moe passed from this life to eternal life into the arms of her loving Savior, Jesus, on February 3, 2026. She was born on September 7, 1938 to Arthur and Nathell (McKittrick) Lowe. She was raised on a farm with her sisters where they milked cows and sang. She graduated from Readstown High School In 1956 and later attended Vernon County Teachers College in Viroqua. She taught elementary school in Victory and Pleasant Valley. Much later, she worked as a Certified Nurses Aid at Bethany St. Joseph nursing home in La Crosse.
Rosie married Maurice Moe on June 6, 1959, and they had two children: Janet and Paul. They lived in Newton Valley for a short time. In 1970, they bought Moe’s family farm in Wing Hollow. There, they milked jersey cows and raised tobacco. There are many good memories of working in the tobacco field, hoeing, suckering and harvesting as well as stripping the tobacco in the dairy barn where it was put into bales and sold in Viroqua.
Mom’s family was very musical. Her mom played the piano by ear and by note, and her dad played the guitar and fiddle. Everyone sang. Mom and her sisters harmonized beautifully and sang at 4H events, youth gatherings and church things throughout the area. They continued to sing together through 2025 until Rosie began having health problems due to cancer.
Mom enjoyed animals, especially dogs, but also cats and cows. She also liked to paint, knit, sew and read. She was blessed with three grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and delighted in watching them play at birthday parties.
Most importantly, Rosie loved Jesus and raised her children to know Him and follow Him. She always challenged us to read our Bibles and pray first, not as a last resort. She taught us right from wrong without compromise and expected us to do what was right no matter the cost.
Rosie is survived by her daughter, Janet; son, Paul (Roxie) Moe, her sisters: Barb Haynes, Pat (Ed) Krogan; grandchildren: Amber (Justin) Kaminsky; Jade (Danielle) Moe; and Hunter Moe; and 9 great grandchildren: Nixon and Emerson, Natalia, Walter, Harrison, Vincent, Lawrence, Otto and Rosalyn (Rosie).
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Francis and Ruth; her parents, Art and Nathel Lowe; a brother-in-law, Orville Haynes; and her husband, Maurice Moe.
Family will be holding services on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Viroqua Church of Christ. Visitation will be from noon until time of service.
