Shirley A. Clauer age 92, passed away on Sunday, June 4th, 2023, in Lancaster, Wisconsin.
Shirley was born on February 10, 1931, to Earl and Verle (Hoffman) Bishell. Shirley married Paul M. Clauer on April 10, 1950, in Lancaster, Wisconsin.
After her marriage to Paul, they farmed in Beetown Township. For many years, she was a hard-working farm wife, helping with cattle and field work. Later, she began working at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in the dietary department, retiring in 1993. Shirley had a very large productive garden and enjoyed many flowers in her yard. She decorated her home for every holiday and hosted family meals for many special occasions. Shirley especially loved Christmas and shopped year-round for gifts for the grandchildren. She and Paul were avid campers and never turned down a grandchild or great grandchild who wanted to go along. In their younger years, Paul and Shirley took several vacations, traveling with their close friends, Gerald and Sis Mayne. Shirley was a member of the Beetown United Methodist Church and rarely missed a Sunday service. She also enjoyed crochet and decorated her home with many of her projects.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 73 years, Paul; her son, Dennis (Pam); 5 grandchildren: Deanna (Barry) Brinkman, Don (Samantha) Clauer, Ryan (Sabrina) McClain, Paul Clauer, and Lindsey (Al) Duve; and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Darwin Bishell; a daughter, Katherine Clauer; her mother-in-law, father-in-law; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster, Wisconsin at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Mike Christensen officiating.
