Steven James Getter, age 63, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at his home after battling leukemia.
He was born on January 3, 1962, to Ray and Eileen (Sisbach) Getter. With his life partner Kathryn Schroeder, they purchased a farm between Viroqua and Readstown.
Steven liked to hunt and fish. He also liked to “putz” and fix things. Steven retired from the Viroqua City Street Department. He and Kathryn enjoyed their daily road trips.
He is survived by his mother, Eileen Getter; two sisters, Susan (John) Johnson of Viola, and Sonia Getter of Viroqua; brothers: Stacey, Stuart (Kay), and Stanley (Siri) all of Viroqua; nephew Cody (Tia) Getter-Skrede; great nephews: Braxton, Colt, and Rhett; Kathryn’s four daughters: Molly (Nate) Buros - and their children Lauren and Tyler, Jennifer (Keith) Styles - and their children Gunnar and Gage, Mia Gardner - and her children Deven, Mai, and great grandson Warren, and Kara Gardner; Steven’s dog Cooper, and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Steve and Katie’s farm from 1-4 p.m. There will be a presentation by the Vernon County Sheriff Department and Honor Guard at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to an organization of your choice.
