Willard J. Buckles

Willard Buckles of De Soto passed away at home on September 14th, 2022, following a battle with cancer.

Willard loved his family, farm equipment that ran, weather that cooperated for the crops, the Packers, a good euchre game at any of the local bars, and as a youngster, working with his Uncle Jim.

Willard was married to Molly Swift and they raised 5 children on the family farm he had been raised on. He is survived by his sons: Bobby, Wade (Jeanette), Dane, Rob; daughter, Jodeen; 4 siblings: Donna Crum (LaVon), Garry (Laraine), John (Iclal), and Frank (Caroline); and 8 nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Reba (Wakefield); his brother and farming partner Bob; and his grandson, baby Wyatt.

A graveside service will be held at Walnut Mound Cemetery in Retreat on Oct 15th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lori Kleppe officiating.  Family and friends will gather for A Time of Remembrance at the Retreat Sportsman Club following the service. All are welcome.

We would like to extend a special thanks to the Gundersen Hospice care givers that gave Willard and the family such important support. Also, we would like to express our appreciation to all the family and friends from the area that came to visit during his last months.
